Content Pitch: Analog Horror “Found Footage” Podcast

Why a podcast?

  • Underrepresented niche in VTubing, but popular in the horror stories community

  • External reach, outside of the VTubing community and existing audience

  • YouTube natively supports automated playlist-to-podcast conversion

  • Podcasts are immediately made available in the YouTube Music App (YTMA)

  • In the YTMA, users can pre-download episodes (e.g. for their commute) and listen in ‘audio-only’ mode, saving battery/dimming their screen when they go to sleep

Licensing

  • Public domain horror stories (e.g. the works of H.P. Lovecraft, “Frankenstein,” etc.)

  • Reddit stories sourced ethically (just emailing authors) for free

    • There is a blacklist of content creators that do not get proper licensing

  • No true crime

  • Nothing against TOS

  • No SCPs (great project, but their standard license is incompatible with corporate VTubing)

  • No ASMR or ASMR RP (the audience does not overlap significantly and it alienates a female audience)

Additional marketing

  • 24/7 scary stories livestream using an extra stream key and a SaaS solution (or ChromaSHIFT server)

  • Website (like this one) with blog posts for each podcast: interviews with authors and narrators, opinions on stories, etc.

    • This is standard for serious podcasts and establishes this as more than just a VTuber’s side project

    • Blogs are still extremely SEO-friendly compared to videos

  • Guest appearances on other horror narration podcasts

A podcast will lead to growth for all ChromaSHIFT talents

Large external growth to a new audience unfamiliar with VTubers and ChromaSHIFT

  • The top horror narration channels on YouTube have millions of subscribers and don’t even use a facecam — just stock image backgrounds for their videos

Directly targets a demographic interested in talents with darker/horror themed models

  • My podcast audience is around 97% male, and significantly older than the standard VTuber audience demographic (older than 30)

Flexible, low-effort, easy collaboration opportunities

  • There will always be opportunities for guest narration from other talents

  • Guest narrations are pre-recorded and thus, talents can record them on their own schedules

  • Narrations showcase talent’s speaking voices, a key charm point easily missed in, say, a video game stream where there’s other sound effects and background music happening
