Silatro is ready!

I will be debuting this on Friday at 9:30 PM PST on https://www.twitch.tv/EldraEcho (and I am soliciting raids). So, Saturday and onwards, please feel free to stream it, and let me know if you do so so that I can retweet your stream announcements!

I did not end up getting enough assets to make chip markers into the NEXAS Slimes. A few other features were removed:

  • No page for Silatro on my website: some talents retired, some talents don’t want to be associated with NEXAS in Google searches, but if people want the page back up, I’ll consider it

  • For the same reason, I removed the change where card stickers had the NEXAS sticker

Guidelines are pretty simple:

Please do not share these files with anyone who was not either

a.) debuted as a NEXAS talent or

b.) part of the pre-made auditions (e.g. Astrid’s group of auditions) because I cannot verify whether anyone else was actually a part of NEXAS or not.  (People like the incubus demon, who weren’t in the deck but were confirmed to be part of NEXAS, can still have a copy.)

If you do want to be able to share this with a broader non-ex-NEXAS community, please let me know so that I can log people’s responses and figure out the best course of action. I’d love to make this public to everyone — the issue is IP law related.

If you do share it with people, I’m not gonna come after you or anything. I just have to tell you not to do that.

Please credit me (tag my Twitter in your Twitter announcements for streams of Silatro or below in a tweet or something, give me a shoutout on Twitch, tag me in the stream title, put it in the credits panel, it is really up to you.) At the very least, mention that Eldra Echo made the mod. I did not get the NEXAS ex-corpo buff.  I am @EldraEcho everywhere.

Feel free to edit it, but if you do make edits, just mention that so people don’t get confused, e.g. “I updated my outfit,” “I replaced my gen mates with fan art of them” whatever.

Feel free to monetize it, there’s no royalties to pay me.

Silatro installation instructions:

1.) Save the files.

Save the following PNGs accordingly. They have to use these names for the mod to work.

OffKai deck with no tint: 8BitDeck.png

Spectral/planets cards: Tarots.png

Silatro word with ‘stick’ in the middle: balatro.png

Silatro word with no ‘stick’ in the middle: balatro_alt.png

The Tarots one is not a typo — the Planets, Spectral, and Tarot cards are part of the same png sheet.

The spelling and capitalization matters.

2.) Make sure Balatro is closed and keep it closed until we’re done installing the mod.

3.) Make a copy of Balatro for the mod so you don’t mess up your textures permanently.

I use a Mac and got Balatro on Steam. Here’s what I did.

  • I made a new folder in my VTubing folder called ‘Silatro’

  • I copied (not moved) Balatro to that Silatro folder

  • Unzip Balatro (that’s sort of the next step too)

4.) Go Silatro > Contents > Resources > Balatro.love > resources > textures > 2x

Not a typo, two different nested folders are both named ‘Resources,’ at least on Mac. Instructions vary by operating system.

Mac: What I said above, and it works the same as it should with Windows.

5.) Copy the existing 8BitDeck, 8BitDeck_opt2, Tarots, balatro, and balatro_alt PNGs to a new folder somewhere on your computer, like Documents, so you have them as a backup.

6.) Copy and paste the Silatro 8BitDeck, 8BitDeck_opt2, Tarots, balatro, and balatro_alt PNGs to the 2x folder and overwrite the base existing Balatro images.

  • When you copy the images, you’ll be asked if you want to overwrite the existing images. Answer yes to each. Don’t save it as another name or it just won’t work.

  • I replaced the five PNGs in the folder (8BitdDck, 8BitDeck_opt2, Tarots, balatro, balatro_alt)

  • The Silatro textures were made using the 2x textures, not the 1x textures, so, yeah.

7.) Run the Balatro program from the Silatro folder (not from Steam)

  • In the first seconds, there’s an animation and in it, the cards should be replaced with the Silatro cards, and the first page will say Silatro

  • You can play a game and check your deck to ensure that the cards are all there with the proper textures
